10 Behind The Scenes Documentaries Even Better Than The Movies

4. Empire Of Dreams: The Story Of The Star Wars Trilogy (2004)

It's hard to imagine a world without Star Wars. Even those who aren't fans of the movies, have heard about it. Chances are you could ask anybody on the street to name the lead character and you'd get the right answer every time. It's simply ingrained in our culture.

If you're a Star Wars fan, then Empire of Dreams is a must see. The original Star Wars trilogy changed the face of cinema. By combing action adventure with fantasy and sci fi - all mixed up with themes of good vs evil, (and a touch of incest) - George Lucas captivated the world with a saga that nobody imagined would be so successful.

The unlikely success story is examined in minuscule detail; from Lucas' initial conception, and the design of characters and sets, to his various struggles during the filming of A New Hope, and the cultural impact of his finished first trilogy.

This documentary is an undertaking of the most enjoyable kind.
