10 Best & 10 Worst Horror Movies Coming In 2017
4. Alien: Covenant
Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel Prometheus may have been underwhelming for some moviegoers but his follow-up Alien: Covenant, which he has promised will feature a return to the Alien franchise’s most iconic monsters including chest-bursters, face-huggers and the big, bad Xenomorphs, could well soothe the disappointment of its predecessor. Better yet, it’s recently been bumped up to a late summer 2017 release.
Michael Fassbender, who has already assured that Alien: Covenant will be ‘much scarier than Prometheus’, will reprise his role as android David (as will Noomi Rapace as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in a currently unknown capacity) alongside new additions that make up the crew of colony ship Covenant – including Danny McBride as the ship’s pilot and Katherine Waterston as a character as yet simply named ‘Daniels’– as they discover a supposedly unchartered planet.
It’s bound to have a few detractors, but if the rumours that ‘Daniels’ is the one and only Ellen Ripley’s mother are indeed true, then Alien: Covenant could be edging closer to the original Alien timeline and hopefully provide at least some answers that Prometheus didn’t.
