2. Trick ‘r Treat 2

Despite just a few festival screenings and a straight to DVD release (normally a telltale sign that a film is absolutely awful), Michael Dougherty’s darkly funny, Halloween themed horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat has since amassed a cult following with fans clamouring for a sequel for years.

Now, it looks like the much-anticipated follow-up will be hitting screens in 2017. Dougherty, who has been working on a Trick ‘r Treat 2 script since 2015 and recently released festive horror Krampus, has not so cryptically tweeted about an imminent sequel and talked of his plans – including a different geographical setting to the suburban surrounds of the first film and a return to its mischievously demonic, burlap masked emcee Sam alongside a new cast of monsters and ghouls – in recent interviews.

Firm details remain scant at the moment, but a late October release would obviously be very befitting.
