10 Best Action Scenes From The Marvel Cinematic Universe
6. Stark's Escape - Iron Man
Jon Favreau's Iron Man is one of the most important blockbusters of the 21st Century; if the movie hadn't been a success, then Robert Downey Jr. wouldn't have become one of the world's biggest movie stars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe could have been doomed to fail. While Favreau isn't the best director when it comes to action and the final showdown between two tin men is fairly generic, the debut of the Mark I remains one of the standout set-pieces of the MCU.
Ignoring the fact that Tony Stark's captors failed to notice that the genius inventor they were holding prisoner was actually building an armored suit instead of a missile, the bulky nature of the Mark 1 serves as a counterpoint to the shiny Stark Industries tech seen throughout the rest of the movie.
Lumbering his way to escape through brute force and a little help from his flamethrowers, the destruction of his own weapons signals that Tony is definitely a changed man. By the time Iron Man is finally revealed in all his glory, audiences were already invested in the character thanks to Downey Jr's performance, and couldn't wait to see the Ten Rings get their comeuppance.
