10 Best Character Arcs In The MCU (So Far)

5. Steve Rogers/Captain America

Avengers Endgame Captain America Mjolnir

The joy of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is that he doesn't massively change over the course of his MCU tenure. He is always brave, selfless, morally sound and heroic, as shown in The First Avenger (2010) when he jumps on the dummy grenade believing it to be real.

As Captain America, Rogers never wavers. But that's exactly why his arc is so incredible. A hero long before he became a super soldier, he went through hell during his stint as a superhero. He fought in the war, lost his best friend, fought his best friend, joined a new team, found himself betrayed and on the run, and finally he proved worthy of wielding Mjolnir in the final fight against Thanos.

His is an expansive tale, with each new challenge threatening to break him and destroy his faith in hope and people. But they never did. No matter how many times he was forced to take on Hydra or do battle with his closest friends, he was always headstrong and compassionate, optimistic in the face of overwhelming odds.

Thank the Marvel gods he got a happy ending.
