6. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - The Fellowship Is Disbanded
The Film: Peter Jacksons major motion commotion in Middle Earth is a massive feast of classic fantasy and perfect action. With a momentous cast list of familiar faces and welcome newcomers and a source material just begging for big screen treatment, the Lord of the Rings series kicked off in epic fashion with the first instalment, where everything was completely mad, and yet made sense.
The Plot: Frodo and a handful of other Hobbits are given the momentous task of destroying The One Ring, an evil fashion accessory if ever there was one. They are joined by several brave heroes, including the wizard Gandalf, warriors Aragorn and Boromir, bow wielding Elf Legolas and wonderfully barbaric dwarf Gimli, who together formed the titular Fellowship.
The Cliffhanger: After a close call in the Mines of Moria costs them Gandalf, the Fellowship is broken up by a betrayal from Boromir. This convinces Frodo to continue his journey alone, leading to the others rallying Middle Earths denizens for the fight of its life.
The Result: And what a fight we get treated to! Throughout the second instalment flows a gloriously destructive path of battles and fights, with Frodo getting ever closer to completing his task and the surviving Fellowship teetering ever closer on the edge of defeat. The trilogy picks up most of its speed from Fellowship, and never lets up.
