7. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones - The Clone Wars Begins
The Film: In the prequels to the biggest Sci-Fi franchise ever, we are given a far grander scale to the action of the Star Wars universe. Given a whole army of Jedi to play around with, Lucasarts and the man himself get to work staging massive battles and creating the backing story to cinemas very best dark lord. The second installment lets us down with its sappy and pathetic Anakin story line, but presents us with an orgy of lightsabers and blasters t compensate. The Plot: Anakin Skywalker, while protecting beau-to-be Padme, forms a very anti-Jedi relationship with her, not to mention the sand people he massacres in the process (thats one hell of a first date). Meanwhile, Obi Wan Kenobi uncovers a secret clone army and Jedi turned Sith Count Dooku starts a galactic war. The Cliffhanger: Begun, the clone wars has. No matter individual quarrels with the film, that line had to send shivers down the spines of most star wars fans. We are given the perfect setup for a total galactic war across any multitude of planets featuring as many iconic Jedi as possible. Its a tantalising teaser as to what to expect from the third act. The Result: We are treated to the promised Clone Wars across many exotic landscapes. Jedi fight Sith and the lines become blurred in what is a dramatic improvement over its predecessor. And of course, the biggest reverse cliffhanger ever finally is revealed as the plots of the prequel and original trilogy finally collide in epic fashion.
