The first one on the list to feature a villain, this Batman and Robin tale sees the dynamic duo tracking down twisted killer Victor Zsasz. He straddles the line between A-list and B-list villain, outshone by the likes of Riddler, Joker and Mr Freeze, but he’s actually one of the creepiest and most intriguing rogues to call Gotham City home.

The teaser trailer showed Chris Messina covered up, so we don’t know yet what the deal will be with his famous scars. However, if you’re looking to navigate the dark depths of the character before the film drops, this Streets of Gotham arc is the perfect place to do it.

Robin (Damian Wayne) ends up being taken prisoner by Zsasz, getting trapped in his evil torture lair. Although the Boy Wonder himself won’t feature in the movie, it’s likely that at least one of the leads will find themselves similarly stranded in the mad man’s clutches.

The arc features underground orphan gladiator battles for Zsasz’s sadistic amusement too, so it fully leans into the darkness of the character. Even for a DC movie aiming for an R rating, that might prove too dark to be included in Chris Messina’s role.
