From the word go, Warner Bros. got it right on Man Of Steel.* Zack Snyder was exactly the right director to put in the directors chair, and he delivered the greatest version of Clark Kent / Kal-El / Superman cinema has ever seen*, as promised. Where Superman Returns had gone wrong seven years earlier, Man Of Steel went right. Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyers story has so much more going for it. With the fate of the world resting squarely upon his shoulders, Superman does the unthinkable and takes Zods life, and its Goyer and Nolans willingness to have him do this in the first outing that made such an impression here. It lacked a post-credits scene that could have given it the edge here and maybe even tipped it into the #1 spot, but given that there were rumours of such a scene bringing the film into the same Cinematic Universe as Nolans Batman trilogy, thats not entirely a bad thing. And with Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice just two years away, theres fortunately not too long to wait before the Universe expands exponentially. *A controversial statement, to be sure.
Movie / TV enthusiast with a DVD and Blu-ray collection bigger than I'd care to admit. If anyone is offering creative / furniture solutions to house them, I'm all ears.
