10 Best Fully CGI Characters In Sci-Fi Movies

9. Dr. Manhattan - Watchmen

Zack Snyder's Watchmen is a movie utterly filled to the brim with nihilism and darkness, but alongside those less favourable aspects comes a fantastic array of character designs and visual effects. One of the best of which has to be that of Dr. Manhattan, the overwhelmingly powerful superhero capable of mass destruction.

Billy Crudup takes the credit for bringing this performance to life as an actor, but the effects on display are just as significant when it comes to bringing this role to screen. The glowing visual design and powerful renditions of his powers are incredibly intimidating, which juxtaposes his more empathetic character development, providing a perfect connection between the CGI and the actor behind the role.

The movie - and source material's - focus on atomic warfare make Dr. Manhattan truly understandable as a walking radioactive disaster in the making. This, alongside his lack of connection to the boundaries of emotion and physics, turn the character into a post-human god. As such, he is incredibly entertaining to watch and gives the feature a sense of grandeur and metaphysics.

His unique visual aesthetic and compelling narrative are gripping, and he is a real high-point for this ambitious title.
