1. Jojo Rabbit

Peanut Butter Falcon
Fox Searchlight

Jojo Rabbit is a satirical black comedy written and directed by Taika Waititi. The film is based on Christine Leunen's novel, Caging Skies, and stars Roman Griffin Davis, Thomasin McKenzie, Taika Waititi, Rebel Wilson, Stephen Merchant, Alfie Allen, Sam Rockwell, and Scarlett Johansson.

Jojo Rabbit initially premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the top prize, the Grolsch People's Choice Award. It premiered theatrically in October and received both praise and harsh criticism from critics and viewers. The primary complaint dealt with the film's portrayal of Nazis in a comedic light.

The story revolves around a young member of the Hitler Youth, nicknamed"Jojo," who discovers his mother (Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic. Because he's been taught that it's his duty to report his mother to the authorities, he comes to question his beliefs, but he does so with the intervention of his imaginary friend, a moronic version of Adolf Hitler.

Financially, the film didn't do terribly well, partly because of Disney's insecurity on marketing it, but it's picked up critical acclaim to suggest it deserved more at the box office.
