10 Best Horror Movie Franchises

3. Friday The 13th

From angry mothers, copycat killers, trips to Manhatten, wacky possessions, space adventures and even a face-off against another legendary horror icon, Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th franchise sure have done the rounds during their time in the limelight.

In so many ways Friday the 13th is the perfect collection of horror movies for filmmakers and audiences alike. A simple premise of promiscuous teenagers being killed at a summer camp by a hockey mask-wearing villain is, as it turns out, ridiculously easy to churn out and cheap enough that it's almost guaranteed to make a profit for any production company, whilst it ensures horror fanatics are topped up with enough gore to keep them happy.

And, on that hockey mask-wearing villain, Jason Voorhees is still the leading killer in all of movie history with 151 corpses stacked up on his body count at the time of writing. From his trusty machete, occasional dabbling with various farmyard weaponry, to just straight up punching a man's head clean off, there's something so unrelenting about this silent monster that audiences will always love to watch at work.
