10 Best Horror Movies That Take Place On A Train

6. The Midnight Meat Train - 2008

Train to Busan

This film, based on a 1984 story by horror master Clive Barker, is a grisly look into the underbelly of a big city, that aims to answer a simple question: what really happens down there in the spaces under the streets?

Bradley Cooper plays a photographer who sets out to answer that question by roaming the subway tunnels to capture risky, gritty photographs. After saving a woman from a sexual assault, his character Leon becomes dragged deeper and deeper into a horrific mystery as to what is happening on a subway train that is the scene of a nightly bloodbath.

The ending provides a very Barker-esque twist and leaves Leon in a fate possibly worse than death.

Vinnie Jones as the human-butcher Mahogany is a fantastic baddie who should be rightfully placed alongside other greats like Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and Freddy Kreuger as a slasher icon. His large frame and deadly quiet play well off Bradley Cooper's curious photographer, who ends up with far more than a few gutsy photos.

The movie barrels along , sure to keep gorehounds happy with no lack of blood and guts, and the last 15 minutes are a masterclass in creating a movie twist and bringing a story full circle. It doesn't give a happy ending, but Barker's stories seldom do.

If you're a fan of the genre, make this a must-see.
