10 Best 'I’m Dead And I Know It’ Moments In Monster Movies

6. Fran Hewitt - The Blob (1988)

Lizzy Caplan Cloverfield
TriStar Pictures

Overflowing with some of the most impressive ooey gooey kills horror has ever seen, the 1988 version of The Blob is a fantastic film that perfectly highlights the creativity and ability of those in the special effects game back during that time - with the brilliant Tony Gardner heading up the SFX team here.

Amongst the slew of fantastic death sequences dotted throughout the picture, one of the very best belongs to Fran Hewitt, a diner waitress who's just watched the brutal, brilliant assimilation of handyman George. As in, George was slimed proper good and basically sucked through the restaurant's plumbing pipes.

Frantically rushing outside to the nearest payphone, Fran unfortunately finds herself next on the Blob's menu, with the creature dripping down the outside of the phone booth. Fully aware of what's about to happen, poor Fran screams in terror as the Blob squashes the booth and consumes her.

To add insult to injury, as Fran's confronted by the Blob, she sees the face of Sheriff Geller staring back at her from the monster's mish-mash visage. Who's Geller? Why, he's someone Fran had flirted with moments earlier as he passed her his number so that the two could go on a date.
