3. Silent Hill: Restless Dreams

Despite being largely panned by critics, Silent Hill is consistently held up as one of the better and more ambitious video game adaptations, praised largely for its source-accurate style and nailing the atmosphere of the video game.

But it was also a film bogged down by excessive exposition and, worst of all, the baffling decision to split the film's action between Radha Mitchell's protagonist and her clueless husband, played by Sean Bean.

This 2010 fan edit from Aztek463, entitled Silent Hill: Restless Dreams, cuts all the Sean Bean scenes from the movie, forcing the audience to stay with Mitchell's hero for the entirety, resulting in a more intense, snappily paced experience.

Clocking in at just 99 minutes, Restless Dreams excises almost all of the original's bloat (what with its 125-minute runtime), and had something close to this version actually hit cinemas, the reviews may have been far more charitable.
