10 Best Movie Terrorists

10. V - V For Vendetta

"A building is a symbol, as is the act of destroying it. Symbols are given power by people. Alone, a symbol is meaningless, but with enough people, blowing up a building can change the world."
V is a mysterious freedom fighter and terrorist, who wears the mask of Guy Fawkes to ignite a rebellion against a facist government in the late 2020's. Unlike many terrorists on this list, his goal is not one of greed or disregard for the innocent. V wants to free the United Kingdom from an authoritarian society where secret police rule the streets and "undesirables," from immigrants to homosexuals to political opponents, are imprisoned in concentration camps. As such, we the audience and the central protagonist Evey, grow to support him as the film progresses. So why isn't he higher on the list? Well for a start, his ultimate goal, the destruction of the Houses of Parliament, comes not from his hands but that of his protégé Evey. But he does set the path towards that explosive finale, rousing a march of protest against Parliament and killing the villainous Creedy, chief of the secret police. He might have lost his life in the process but he dies a martyr, achieving the goal of igniting freedom for the masses and combating the corruption at the heart of the country. The Method Behind His Madness To free the United Kingdom by igniting a revolution against the fascist Norsefire party. To them he is a terrorist; to the suppressed, he is a force for freedom. The Degree Of Terror And Destruction He Leaves In His Wake The complete destruction of the Houses of Parliament, in honour of his ideals, is the spectacular denouement of his personal journey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnPvbfogeSI His Sheer Force Of Character Visually iconic and the figure head of the revolution, he is, as Evey quotes, "my father, and my mother, my brother, my friend. He was you, and me. He was all of us."
