2. Mary Poppins
Buena Vista PicturesMary Poppins is the iconic Disney film based on P.L Travers' book series of the same name. The film follows Mary Poppins, a magical nanny who helps the dysfunctional Banks family iron out their family dynamic through merriment and song. This is, perhaps, the best known film that merges live action with animation, and set a standard that many people have tried to reach and ultimately failed to do so. The most iconic scene from the film that showcases its animation is the scene where Bert (the "Cockney Jack-of-All-Trades") and Mary Poppins dance with animated penguins. Thanks to its excessive charm, Mary Poppins has become one of the most beloved films of all-time. At the time of its release, it was nominated for thirteen Academy Awards (a record that has yet to be surpassed by any other Disney film). It won five Oscars in 1964, including Best Actress for Julie Andrews, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Visual Effects, and Best Original Song for "Chim Chim Cher-ee".
