3. Men In Black (1997-2012)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rxQQDKoO2w Ask most people if they think the Men in Black series has anything to do with Marvel and chances are they'll look at you baffled and say no. Originally published by Canadian publisher Aircel Comics in 1990, the Men in Black comics eventually made their way to Marvel after Aircel was bought by Malibu Comics, which was then consumed by Marvel. Nearly a quarter of a century since the comics were first published, audiences have been witness to three Men in Black films, all of which have been financially successful despite dividing fan opinion -- particularly in regards to the sequels -- over their pros and cons. Regardless of that debate, Danny Elfman's theme for the series is both dripping in kooky playfulness and immediately recognizable, having defined itself as one of the most iconic science fiction film themes and comic adaptation themes. While the future of the series is uncertain, the success of Men in Black 3 proves that there's still a lot of goodwill towards and nostalgia for the films. The fact that one can hear the theme 17 years after it first played in theaters and still enjoy it serves to highlight Elfman's success and the lasting popularity of the films.
