10 Best Pre-Credit Sequences In James Bond Movies
4. Die Another Day
The much maligned final entry of the Brosnan Bond era actually has a lot to offer, most noticeably in its dramatic opening. The scene begins with Bond and fellow agents surfing their way into North Korea, a spectacular moment that is expertly executed and undeserving of the criticism it faced. I mean it's a Bond film for pete's sake, it should be fun!
Bond's attempt to infiltrate enemy territory is thwarted early on due to bad guys who actually know what they're doing and actually know how to use a gun! Just as 007 looks set for immediate execution, he manages to escape due to the plot device that is his watch, setting off explosions before taking off as part of a hovercraft chase sequence.
But it is the final moments before the credits roll and Madonna begins singing the title tune that elevate this scene to a whole new level. Having avoiding a near fatal fall, the unthinkable occurs, with Bond being captured by the North Koreans before being tortured.
This proves to be a perfect lead in not just for the brilliant opening credit sequence, but also for the rest of the film, with Bond facing a situation he has never faced before. The fact that the remainder of the film was bogged down with bad CGI and mediocre acting was really unfortunate, as this pre credit sequence did all it could to set up a classic.
