10 Best Robin Williams Performances Of All Time

4. John Keating - Dead Poets Society (1989)

Robin Williams Good Morning Vietnam
Buena Vista International

Dead Poets Society came out two years after Good Morning Vietnam, and officially hammered home the fact that Robin Williams was ready to prove himself as a leading dramatic star.

The classic drama follows the English teacher John Keating (Williams), who's recently started a job at the all-male Welton Academy and uses his passion for poetry and life to change the lives of his students.

At its centre, Dead Poets Society is all about the boys in Keating's class, as they come to terms with the prospect of growing up and the harsh realities of their elite school environment.

This coming-of-age narrative is anchored by Williams' deeply moving portrayal of a man committed to spreading his love of the arts and life's beauty. He's at once inspiring, thoughtful and full of grace, and his chemistry with the younger actors around him (including Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles) is simply divine.
