5. Imhotep - The Mummy

Ancient Egyptian high priest Imhotep, the bad guy in 1999's The Mummy, is definitely dead at the start of the film, right?

Like, he gets buried in a sarcophagus with a bunch of flesh-eating beetles and is reduced to a rotting corpse before he awakens. That counts as dead, yeah?

Anyway, as we said earlier, our list, our rules.

Giant idiot Evelyn Carnahan revives the deceased priest after reading an extract from the Book of the Dead. Why would you do that? It's literally called The Book of the Dead! Have you not seen Evil Dead?

Anyway, that's what she does, and now Imhotep is back and he's not very happy. Having been sentenced to death for having an affair with the mistress of the Pharoah (rookie error), baldy returns to the land of the living and sets about trying to revive his beloved.

That resurrection doesn't go as well, as he's stopped by Brendan Fraser and his friends.

Imhotep is brought back again for the sequel, The Mummy Returns, but that rebirth gets massively over-shadowed by the film debut of Dwayne Johnson as The Scorpion King.

Poor Imhotep. Lad just can't catch a break.
