10 Biggest MCU Surprises We Didn't See Coming

The most recent, and perhaps, most shocking surprise we've seen in the MCU so far was Patrick Stewart appearing in the newest trailer for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. For anyone who hasn't seen the X-Men films, Patrick Stewart played Professor Charles Xavier, one of the most powerful mutants in the world, possessing an enhanced form of telepathy.

As mentioned earlier with Evan Peters' Quicksilver, the X-Men were long known to be non-canonical to the MCU, as various events contradict each other, and Disney did not own the rights to use the X-Men before 2019. However, Doctor Strange's manipulation of the multiverse may be what is necessary to bring these characters back. Many fans even theorize that the events of this movie will permanently bring the X-Men into the MCU once and for all.

In the trailer, though we don't get to see him clearly, the voice that says "we should tell him the truth" (talking about Strange, presumably), is undeniably the iconic voice of Sir Patrick Stewart, as any X-Men or Star Trek: The Next Generation fan can tell. Hopefully the character portrayed by Stewart in this movie will be the same character as the one in the X-Men films, though we may get another curveball like with Ralph Bohner in WandaVision.
