7. First Look At Peter Capaldi's Doctor Who Costume
Say goodbye to the bow-tie! On Monday BBC America debuted our first look at Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor costume, which looks an awfully lot those of some of the classic Doctors. Rather than Matt Smith's purple coat and fez, Capaldi will sport a more formal, mature look, in a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, white shirt and shiny black boots. According to Capaldi himself, costume designer Howard Burden has "woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% rebel Time Lord." Some fans were thrown for a loop when Capaldi was revealed as the Twelfth Doctor, while others found solace in the fact that the show may be giving the Doctor some of his gravitas back. Whovians everywhere are already disecting the image of Capaldi in costume (including our very own Mark White), and formalizing theories about what may be in store for them by the time the show returns later this year.
