6. Guy Ritchie Making Six-Film King Arthur Series?

Guy Ritchie There are certain stories in history that are destined to receive film adaptations forever, and the tale of King Arthur definitely falls in that category. In fact, there have been several projects about the famous king put into various stages of development over the years, some unsuccessful (like Bryan Singer's Excalibur) and slowly moving foward (like Donal DeLine's Harry Potter-esque vision). Now Warner Bros. is moving forward with a six-film epic, and it appears that Sherlock Holmes and Snatch director Guy Ritchie may be at the helm. The films are being produced by Akiva Goldsman, Harold and Tory Tunnell, and Lionel Wigram (Ritchie's production partner). Joby Harold (Awake) wrote the script for the first film. At this point in time there's no other news on the project, and with Ritchie's next film, The Man From UNCLE close to finishing production, perhaps the timing is right for him to bring Arthur, Lancelot, and Merlin to life. A six film saga is a highly ambitious undertaking, and certainly a big step for the man who got his start making small gangster flicks like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He of course proved his worth to WB with his Sherlock Holmes films, so chances are they'll at least give him a shot at one of the six movies.
