Chris Pratt, or Crisp Rat as he's sometimes referred to online, had a simultaneously great and socially maligned year. Back in 2014, Pratt could do no wrong. Guardians of The Galaxy, Her, The Lego Movie - this guy was absolutely knocking it out of the park with every film.

Then came 2021. Hot off the back of some critical stinkers, such as Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom and The Tomorrow War, Pratt made headline news following the announcement he'd been cast as Mario in the upcoming adaptation of the beloved, plumber-centric franchise.

The internet was immediately suspect. Chris Pratt? The Star-Lord guy? As Mario? Surely this must be a late April Fools joke. Then things took an even worse turn. Late this year, movie-lovers the whole world over were shocked to learn... Pratt would be voicing Garfield in a new film about the lasagne-loving feline.

Suddenly, the internet was ablaze with Chris Pratt hate. "Chris" MCU tier-lists placed Pratt well and truly in the bottom spot, leagues below his colleagues Evans and Hemsworth. His controversial church re-entered the headlines for their gross views on gay conversion therapy. Then, worst of all, he made a jokey Instagram post his wife. Truly, human scum.
