9. First Synopsis For David Yates' Tarzan

Tarzan Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows director David Yates has set his sights on his next major studio project, which began production this week after spending a bit of time in development over at Warner Brothers. Yates is leaving the wizarding world behind and heading into the jungle for a reboot of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan, starring True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard. To celebrate the film's production start, WB has released the first official synopsis for the film. Check it out here:
"It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom. But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash."
Skarsgard is joined by The Wolf of Wall Street's Margot Robbie, who's set to play Jane. Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz is on board to play Captain Rom, while Djimon Hounsou, Samuel L. Jackson round out the supporting cast. Tarzan is expected to swing back into theaters on July 1, 2016, where he'll go head to head with two other blockbusters: Angry Birds and ID Forever: Part 1. Does the iconic loin-clothed hero stand a chance against the megapopular Birds and the Independence Day sequel at the box office? Time will tell...
