4. DC Is Developing A Supergirl TV Show

Fans who feel that Warner Brothers is behind the ball at adapting their DC Comics characters to film have no such argument to make on the TV front, as the studio will have FIVE shows on air this fall. Arrow is heading into a highly anticipated third season, while new series The Flash, Constantine, Gotham, and iZombie will hit the airwaves in just a few weeks. Now, we're hearing that a sixth series may be on the way, as The Flash producer Greg Berlanti has teamed with his frequent collaborator Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family) and DC chief creative officer Geoff Johns to bring Supergirl back to the small screen. The new series is currently being pitched around to several networks, and is described as "a new interpretation of the Supergirl character and her story." Don't expect it to tie in to Arrow or The Flash, however, as reports came in last last week that the CW was the first network Berlanti and Adler pitched to, but were turned down. No plot or character details were given, making this show a complete mystery at the moment. Many expected Supergirl to show up in the DC Cinematic Universe at some point (there was even an Easter egg in Man of Steel pointing toward the possibility), but if she's on TV that may not happen (though, of course, the DC TV and film universes are separate). This will be the third time Supergirl has transitioned from page to screen. Helen Slater starred in the infamous and eponymous 1984 film, while Laura Vandervoort portrayed Superman's cousin on three seasons of Smallville.
