10 Biggest Unconfirmed Rumours About 2022 Movies

1. Christian Bale's Dark Knight Returns (The Flash)

With Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck reprising their Batman/Bruce Wayne roles in The Flash, it was inevitable that rumours would spread regarding other previous Batman actors, and that's exactly what's happened with Christian Bale.

With The Flash set to revolve around the multiverse, it's been rumoured for quite some time that Bale's Batman - a role he played in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy - will have a cameo (or even a supporting role) in the film. And though nothing has been confirmed quite yet, the opportunity is clearly there.

Some fans claim that it wouldn't make sense for Bale's Batman to appear, given that he had retired the mantle at the end of The Dark Knight Rises. But this is the multiverse: he could be plucked from any point in his timeline, including those earlier periods where he still wore the Batsuit. There's a blank spot between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight - why not pull him from there?

Given the standalone nature of the Dark Knight Trilogy, its more prestigious position among comic-book adaptations, and Nolan/Bale's desire to leave their Batman days behind, a Bale cameo, admittedly, doesn't make sense on numerous levels. But at the same time, it's easy to understand why Warner Bros would want to bring back the most successful cinematic Batman of all time.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
