10 Biggest WTF Moments From This Year's Summer Films

Boots Riley's Sorry to Bother You is a great film that features dozens of great WTF moments.

From Tessa Thompson's Detroit's art museum sequence, to Cassius learning to use his 'white voice' from Danny Glover, to Armie Hammer's entire performance, the film is arguably the most delightfully WTF absurdist film of the last few years. But of all the moments in the film, one sticks out as more WTF than anything else, and that would have to be the reveal of the horses.

Throughout the film, Cassius sees advertisements for WorryFree, a housing company that is essentially just prison, run by Armie Hammer's Steve Lift. When Cassius gets to meet Lift and have a face-to-face, he is encouraged to snort cocaine alongside him off of a plate with a picture of a horse on it.

Moments later, Cassius excuses himself to go to the bathroom but accidentally stumbles upon a room he shouldn't have. In it is a series of holding cells, all of which house half-human/half-horse hybrids. Cassius finds out that all of these creatures are participants from WorryFree, who Lift is attempting to turn into more optimum workers.

Sorry to Bother You is a film that consistently walks the line between genres, even from one second to the next, and this is perhaps its strongest use of this style. The reveal of the horses is simultaneously horrifying, hilarious, and unlike anything else viewers will see in a movie this year.
