10 Bizarre Events That Took Place In First Drafts Of Famous Movies

5. Chronicle - Matt Saves Korea

Chronicle is definitely one of the greatest films of 2012, truly a great masterpiece. It's one of the few movies that manages to make good use of the POV and it gives a good reason to why it's used on the film. It had great characters, an incredible story, and some pretty cool effects for a low-budget movie. The movie should be an example for aspiring filmmakers that it isn't necessary to have too much if you want to tell a great story. And last year, screenwriter Max Landis said that he's already working on a sequel to Chronicle, and despite the rumours that the studio demanded that the sequel were more of the same, he assured them that the movie is moving along and that said rumours are false. However we have to wonder how much the script will change, since the first movie changed a few things when it was being made. For starters, the film was filled with lots of cursing, something that wouldn't have passed if they wanted the movie to be PG-13, other thing changed was some sequences (one of them involved Andrew killing his father the same way he killed the spider earlier in the movie) but the biggest change was the ending of the movie. One of the things that everybody loved about the movie was that it was the origin story of both a villain and a hero, and that in the end we never saw any of the protagonists behave like a superhero. Y'know, with a suit and behaving heroically. But, that thing was changed completely on the original script, in which Matt arrives in South Korea when a dam is collapsing and he saves the people from drowning, screaming with them and cheering. How much it would have changed the film? I'm not sure how to respond to that because the script was much different than the end result. Sure, most of the plot remains intact but some things change a lot. We can only guess on how the audience would react to that ending, but if we consider that on a previous deleted scene it was showed that they had the ability to regenerate from their wounds maybe this would have been something a little bit more predictable, that could also leave room for a sequel. With that being said, I'm not sure if I would have liked more that ending, granted I would have gotten a cool ending showcasing a new superhero, but I think the end the movie had was really cool and emotional. I think they did the right thing by changing it to what we got in the end.
