10 Blooper Reels That Are Better Than The Actual Movie
6. This Is 40
Within the genre of comedy movies, there are countless sub-genres. One man has become so legendary in Hollywood as to have his own sub-genre. This is, of course, the Judd Apatow movie. Often working with many of the same actors, you pretty much know what you’re going to get from the man.
In This is 40, a sequel to Knocked Up from five years earlier, Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd’s characters are getting older and their lives are changing. Quite where it ranks against other Apatow movies is up for debate, but it does have one of the best blooper reels of the lot.
It’s not uncommon to see a gag reel as part of the end credits of a comedy movie, but usually these outtakes span across multiple scenes, actors, and situations. Not This is 40. Instead, this blooper reel focused solely on Melissa McCarthy’s hilarious improvisation opposite Mann and Rudd.
It’s hard to say which is funnier, whether it’s McCarthy’s ridiculous ranting, her co-stars trying in futility to keep from breaking down, or the ultimate reaction from Rudd when he eventually loses it.
