10 Burning Questions Upcoming Movies MUST Answer

3. What Happened To Solomon Lane? - Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

The Question

Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) was the deliciously sinister villain of the last two Mission: Impossible movies, and surprisingly enough he actually ended up surviving the events of Fallout.

And yet, Sean Harris hasn't been announced as part of the cast for the impending seventh film, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. So, what exactly has happened to Lane since we saw him get handed over to MI6 at the end of Fallout?

The Likely Answer

Fans are no doubt keeping their fingers crossed that Lane will at least have a cameo appearance in the film that's being kept under wraps, and failing that we'll at least get a line or two of dialogue about where he ended up.

The most obvious answer is that Lane is simply incarcerated and that's the end of his story, but it's possible he could end up killed in prison by one of Dead Reckoning's villains.

Then there's the prospect that, if Lane is in the film, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and company are actually forced to team up with him to take down a bigger threat. How'd that work as a cliffhanger tease for Part Two?

Given the film's already stacked cast, though, the smart money is probably on Lane either having a single-scene cameo to tie up his arc or being merely mentioned in a throwaway line at most.
