10 Characters That Need To Be Introduced In Future DC Movies
6. Starfire
Someone as flamboyant and full of life as Koriand'r, the most well-known character to hold the title of Starfire, would offer much-needed contrast to the multitude of "grimdark" characters we've met so far, and offer some youthful vitality much like The Flash.
Best known from Teen Titans comics and cartoon series, Starfire is interesting enough to warrant an appearance on her own in upcoming DC movies, most likely 2019's Justice League sequel or 2020's Green Lantern Corps.
Three things in particular stand out about Starfire that would make her a valuable addition to the DCEU. One of the artists involved in her creation thought the initial description of her was "Red Sonja in space"- interpreting that into her character, the world and culture she comes from would offer another side to the DCEU, a more violent, surreal form of Thor's Asgard.
Her youth makes her volatile- impulsive, childish, unable to control her emotions... to see her being forced to grow up, perhaps by a cosmic threat, or being surrounded by the Justice League, is an arc we haven't really seen in comic book movies- a petulant young superhero maturing and learning from her mistakes.
Finally, Starfire is often seen in the comics as someone who embraces her feminity, her sexuality, and doesn't hide her emotions- a character like that is needed in a subgenre of films that is only now starting to give us more than a handful of fleshed-out complex female characters.
