10 Characters Who Were Massively Improved In Sequels
6. Deadpool - Deadpool 2
It took Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick two movies to really nail Deadpool's character as it should be in his standalone movies, with the first outlining that the character doesn't have to be whatever Barakapool was, and the second proving that Ryan Reynolds can do anything if you stick a red sock on his head and give him free reign to be as much of a d*ck as he likes.
Deadpool 2 doubled down on Wade Wilson and brought out his emotional complexity as much as his aggressively meta humour, levelling up from his feelings for Vanessa to explore his pseudo paternal relationship with Firefist, too. His writing was tighter, with less on the nose teenage quips and instead some hilariously thought out metaphors that suit Deadpool's endless dunking on of superhero movies.
All-in-all, Wilson becomes a much more likeable, complex, and human character, before going out in a blaze of glory in the end credits sequence that serves as the crown jewel on his wonderfully funny head.
It's a movie that makes Deadpool the character he's always deserved to be.
