The Insidious films typically deal with mediums and psychic readings, although this third instalment adds the concept of “astro-physiology”, where one travels to the afterlife after leaving one’s own body. “Make no mistake,” wrote one critic, “the Bible is clear that anyone who even attempts to call upon the dead or consult the afterlife is an abomination.”

Deuteronomy 18 10-12 goes further, informing us that “all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out.”

The review concludes: “As a Christian, I don’t recommend the film, as it focuses on the occult and to some extent promotes the occult practices. However, I cannot deny that it is a terrifying chapter that will likely please those who are already fans. Parents should certainly not take young children to see this film.”
