10 Classic Books That Should Be Adapted

3. Dune Series

url-9 While David Lynch made a fairly prominent version of Dune in the 80's, the general consensus is that it didn't quite do the book justice. The novel Dune and its first two sequels Dune: Messiah and Children of Dune, takes place 20,000 years in the future where Paul Atriedes who is rumored to become the "Kwisatz Haderach" a sort of chosen one similar to what George Lucas would later do with Anakin Skywalker. The story takes place on the desert world of Arrakis, home of the spice melange and giant sandworms. Dune is a novel somewhat in the vein of the Lord of the Rings as there is a vast amount of information offered as well as a lot that is in the background. The sequels to Dune explore more fully the world of Arrakis and the character of Paul Atriedes. A proper adaption of Dune could be one of the most interesting science fiction films ever made as there is a wealth of material to pick and choose from.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
