10 Classic Movies We Need To See In IMAX

5. Star Wars (1977)

Few will argue that George Lucas' original Star Wars was among the most brilliant and hugely influential sci-fi films ever made, even if he completely ballsed-up the complete trilogy of prequels that followed. While his 1977 original might be more technologically defunct than the new entries, it remains the most regal and visually stunning of the entire six-film saga, such that it would be the most befitting of a big-screen IMAX treatment.

Given the film's reliance on set-pieces and grand vistas, why wouldn't Star Wars be ripe for IMAX? Everything from Darth Vader's imposing voice to John Williams' unforgettable score, and indeed, Gilbert Taylor's immense cinematography - enhanced with sublime (for its time) visual effects - makes this film ripe for IMAX; it is the exact equivalent of a modern-day blockbuster masterpiece, so why not present it to us it in the grandest medium possible?
