6. Rebecca

The Fugitive Harrison Ford
United Artists

Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca, based on the Daphne du Maurier’s gothic novel of the same name, tells the story of a young woman who marries an aristocrat only to live in the shadow of his former wife. She also grapples with the housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers, who doesn't approve of Max’s new mistress. The iconic 1940 thriller won the Oscar for Best Picture.

The remake, which will be directed by Ben Wheatley (Kill List, Free Fire), already has a star-studded cast with Lily James and Armie Hammer playing the newlywed couple and Kirsten Scott Thomas playing the housekeeper.

The film is being made by production company Working Title Films in association with Netflix. The release date is currently unknown, but Netflix recently confirmed that the film will be appearing on their platform.
