If this is actually in the Cloverfield continuity, my most obvious guess would be that this is from the attack of the monster on New York City. Aside from the parallels with the original movie and its teaser, that would explain how 10 Cloverfield Lane will tie into the world - it's a movie about something different (in this case captivity), but has a tangential narrative crossover. How that works into Goodman already holding them captive, however, I don't know.

A nice shot here where the camera slowly pans up the shaking room, but notice the different reactions - Winstead and Gallagher Jr. look confused, whereas Goodman's shock comes with a sense of awareness. As we'll see, that's likely a key element of the movie's conflict.
