10 Comic Book Movie Characters Who Were Screwed By Terrible Writing
7. Elektra (Daredevil, Elektra)
In the comics, Elektra is a female ninja assassin of Greek descent who is romantically linked with the costumed hero Daredevil. Elektra is a strong character in her own right, but she's not particularly likable in terms of mainstream appeal. To make this spin off movie more successful, the writers turned the cold mercenary into a PG 13 hero who's more concerned with looking after a couple of civilians than being the badass ninja we all know and love. Jennifer Garner's casting in the role certainly didn't help, but it was the sub-par plotting and poor characterisation that ultimately ruined Elektra. The film was a failure from start to finish and in the transition from print to screen, much of the characters core essence was lost along the way. Unfortunately, for someone known to regularly cheat death in the comics, Elektra is one comic book character whose movie career won't be resurrected again any time soon.
