10 Comic Book Movie Characters Who Were Screwed By Terrible Writing
6. Cyclops (X-Men, X2, X-Men: The Last Stand)
Unlike most of the comic book movies featured in this list, the first two X-Men films were well received critically, but with an increasingly large ensemble cast, some characters inevitably suffered from a lack of exposure. Poor Scott Summers. Due to the trilogy's focus on Wolverine, team leader and founding member Cyclops was quickly pushed to one side in the first film, barely got a look in during the sequel and was quietly bumped off in the final movie... OFF CAMERA! Of all the countless mistakes X-Men: Last Stand made, killing Jean Grey's lover so early on was by far the worst. The entire emotional thrust of the Phoenix story line should have been how Scott and Jean fight together to stay alive when everyone else knows the Phoenix must die, but the movie completely screwed this over by using Wolverine instead to draw in larger audiences. Check out the X-Men animated cartoon from the early 90's. That's how the Phoenix saga should have played out.
