10 Comic Book Movie Firings That Changed Everything

7. Patty Jenkins - Thor: The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World was initially going to be directed by Monster€™s Patty Jenkins. Taking the reins of the franchise from Kenneth Branagh, she would have been Marvel Studios€™ first female feature film director. (A title that, to this day, still hasn€™t been claimed.) However, less than two years before the film€™s release date, she was shown the door. Initially, all we heard was €˜creative differences,€™ but it didn€™t take long for another version of events to surface. According to The Hollywood Reporter, €œJenkins was fired without warning€ after €œMarvel became concerned that Jenkins was not moving decisively enough and feared the film might miss its November 2013 release date.€ Natalie Portman was said to be furious. In stepped Game Of Thrones director Alan Taylor, who got the film (albeit not Marvel€™s finest movie) finished on time. Patty Jenkins has landed on her feet, though €“ she€™ll direct Wonder Woman for Warner Bros, which is expected on our screens in 2017.
