10 Comic Book Movie Storylines That Still Need Resolving

5. Exactly Who Is Gustav Fiers? (The Amazing Spider-Man Movies)

Gustav Fiers AKA The Gentleman first appeared in the first Amazing Spider-Man movie when he approached Curt Connors in his prison cell and asked if Connors had told Peter Parker the truth about his father. Connors replied that he hadn't and Fiers vanished. Connors yelled to him that he should leave Peter alone. He also appeared in Amazing Spider-Man 2 at Ravencroft Institiute when he visited the imprisoned Harry Osborn. They discussed Harry's plans for revenge against Spider-Man and Fiers proposed the idea of bringing together a group of villains to defeat him. He also informed Harry that Aleksei Sytsevich - a Russian mob boss who was defeated by Spider-Man -is a prime candidate to don a rhinoceros-based exo-suit created by Oscorp. Fiers is the one who freed Sytsevich from prison so he can wear it to start the confrontation that brought the movie to a close. But exactly who is he? He's been in two movies, albeit briefly, so far and is obviously a key figure in the saga, but nothing has been explained about him. Keen Marvel fans will know him from Adam-Troy Castro's Sinister Six trilogy of Spider-Man novels as a notorious criminal who brought the villainous group together, but for casual movie-goers his full identity is still a complete mystery.
