10 Comic Book Movie Villains Who Looked Great (But Sucked Anyway)

5. Malekith (Thor: The Dark World)

In order to make a villain seem like a genuine threat to a character as powerful as Thor, said villain needs to be presented as extremely powerful. The main flaw of Malekith is that he simply wasn't. He was bested in battle by Thor's mother and displayed very little in terms of combat prowess or esoteric abilities, which made him a very underwhelming lead antagonist. Moreover, he was also highly uninteresting. He was very underdeveloped and, even with the talented Christopher Eccleston portraying him, very hard to take seriously and not at all compelling. But he looked good! Granted, he didn't look too much like the Malekith from the comics, but the Dark Elves in general have received a makeover in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the make-up and costume of Malekith was quite eerie, frightening and formidable looking.
