4. The Batman Curse - The Dark Knight Trilogy
It might sound like the kind of conspiracy theory only spoken of in crazy internet communities, but theres a very real chance that Christopher Nolans Dark Knight trilogy is cursed. Although Batman Begins escaped the curses clutches, The Dark Knight was struck by tragedy on and off screen. Stuntman Conway Wickliffe was killed during filming in late 2007 when the car he was in struck a tree and the following year, just a few months after hed finished filming, Joker star Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose, while shortly after The Dark Knights release Ledgers co-star Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident. Several minor accidents occurred on the set of Dark Knight Rises but thankfully nobody was seriously injured, though as we all remember just a few days after its premiere 24 year old gunman James Holmes opened fire during a showing of the film at a cinema in Aurora, Colorado killing 12 people and injuring 58. The Results: Curse or no curse, the trilogy was still a big hit and The Dark Knight went on to become the highest grossing film of 2008. Though the final film is often cited as being a disappointment, it's a matter of proximity and the trilogy ranks as one of the best ever released. To the extent that DC now faces a giant, ominous shadow for everything they make in the future.
