10 Comic Book Movies That Survived Behind The Scenes Turmoil
5. On-Set Tragedy - The Crow
Putting the petty squabbles and actor egos in this list to shame, one comic book-based movie incident not only nearly brought the film to an end but also cut the life of a young actor short. Brandon Lee, son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, was steadily carving himself a Hollywood career when he took on the role of Eric Draven in Alex Proyas darkly comic adaptation of The Crow, but sadly it would be his last. During a scene where Eric is gunned down, the films prop crew made a fatal mistake. Failing to realise the prop gun used in the scene had a fragment of a dummy bullet still lodged in its chamber from a previous scene, the crew reloaded the gun with blank cartridges which when triggered caused the fragment to fire with enough force to mortally wound Lee. The Results: Despite the death of its star, Proyas and co were able to completed the rest of the film using a stunt double and some crafty CGI superimposing and the film today is hailed as a cult classic.
