10 Comic Book Movies You Should Feel Guilty For Enjoying
4. The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
Its a shame when an actors last performance is part of a movie that ends up bombing. With the exception of a 2012 Scottish animated film, this was Sean Connerys final film appearance. Its a shame, because the film really isn't as bad as it's oftentimes made out to be. On paper, League has an extraordinary premise for a fantasy/adventure film. The idea of using legendary figures from literary fiction - Captain Nemo, Dr. Jekyll, The Invisible Man, etc - to combat a madman who is out to destroy the world? How could you go wrong? While it's true that the film is quite brainless and absolutely filled to the brim with unnecessary exposition, it is still quite enjoyable. Despite the flagrant misuse of characters established in classic literature there is a massively fun film to be found. It's made all the more enjoyable if you disengage your brain and just don't question the ridiculous goings on of the alternate Victorian universe the film is set in. Just remember that Tom Sawyer as an American Secret Service agent is not weird at all.
