10 Comics You Must Read Before Spider-Man: Far From Home

2. Ultimate Spider-Man #150

Spider Man Far From Home Comics
Marvel Comics

One of the most enduring elements of Spider-Man as a crime-fighter, through all his incarnations, is that he's a rather messy fighter, isn't he? He routinely causes millions in property damage, he has to swing more people out of the way of imminent death than a bungee cord and those webs of his cannot be easy to scrub off of a freshly washed skyscraper.

It is in the wake of a particularly clumsy battle with The Ringer that the Ultimates decide that something must be done about Spider-Man's penchant for unnecessarily destructive antics. Gathering at the behest of Carol Danvers, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America tell of their defining memories of Spider-Man - for better or worse - and decide the appropriate solution would be... superhero lessons.

Some of the most interesting aspects of the MCU's big-screen Spider-Man are his relationships with, and position as a naive protege to, the wider universe of Marvel heroes. Previously locked behind enough contracts and rights disputes to make Mickey Mouse blush, getting to see a young and inexperienced Spider-Man getting some tough love from Iron Man or hanging out with Starlord was a godsend to fans of the Web-Head.

With Far From Home showing no signs of toning down Spider-Man's ties to his fellow superheroes, this sharply written and light-hearted anniversary issue of Ultimate Spider-Man truly puts Spider-Man's vulnerability into perspective compared to the more hard-nosed and world-weary superheroes that inhabit his world.
