3. Black Water Transit
Black Water Transit follows a shipping expert called Jack (Laurence Fishburne) who's forced to help the FBI track down a smuggler called Earl (Karl Urban).
With a pretty basic set-up like that, it doesn't sound like much could go wrong with the production.
But it did. Although a rough cut was completed in 2008, producer, David Bergstein claimed it bared little resemblance to the script he agreed to, voiding his agreement with the director, Tony Kaye. Because Kaye was aware of Bergstein's financial problems, he assumed the producer made this claim to pocket the cash he invested. (This accusation seemed pretty justified since Bergstein was sued the following year by a hedge fun for over a $100 million.)
Bergstein then got involved in a separate lawsuit revolving around Black Water Transit. After nearly a decade of legal issues, he won the rights for the film.
But in 2018, he was arrested for fraud, and is currently carrying out an eight-year sentence. Since Tony Kaye has moved onto multiple other projects, it looks like Black Water Transit has a microscopically-sized chance of being released.
