10 Coolest Sci-Fi Movie & TV Worlds

4. Pandora - Avatar

Ego Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2
Fox

There's a lot to say about James Cameron's Avatar, once the highest grossing movie of all time before being beaten at its own game by a film that people are actually still talking about a year after it came out. But one thing that most people generally agree upon is that the best part of the movie is the world of Pandora itself.

Pandora is one of the most unique and well realized worlds in all of science fiction. Having enough recognizable elements for the viewer to fill in the blanks on certain things, while mixing it up with out there parts like mountains that float in the air. As thinly veiled an allegory as the Na'Vi are, their culture was still very well thought out, had its own complexity and nuance for what time we had to see of it, and the wildlife of the planet make for some creative action scenes as well as breathtaking imagery.

Bottom line, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Disney wanted to make a park out of the WORLD of Avatar, as opposed to the people who live in it. The world takes the cake every time.
